I was going through some mobility work with a client yesterday and it got me thinking. When doing mobility work it's so easy to "check out" and not engage with what you are doing. Mobility is often completed at the start or the end of a workout where your mind is not completely focused. It's often not the favourite part of the work out but it is very necessary in order to keep pain and injuries at bay. Usually just a few adjustments can completely change the effectiveness of an exercise. An easy point to remember during this part of your work out is posture, by engaging your core muscles and straightening your spine it makes the exercise far more effective. I have included two pictures of a pretty straightforward common strech with good posture and without (being very honest I been the first picture many times post training session while chatting with team mates). However the second is far more effective, I have engaged my core muscles and straightened my spine, I have also "domed" my hands pushing my fingertips into the ground to help maintain good posture. The difference in terms of stretch is huge! Give it a go! …#glasgowfitnesslab #mobility #mobilitytraining and %%image%%
